Talons & Tea Leaves

An odd title for this post but very appropriate for the topics discussed in the next few paragraphs.

After deciding the MFM specialist wasn’t for us, we tried something on the other end of the spectrum. I found a practice that has a midwife, OBGYN, and a MFM specialist all in the same building. It was like a dream come true and MJ and I knew we had to give it a try. We set up an appointment and were amazed by how the entire visit went.

We had an early evening appointment for a meet and greet with the OBGYN. Our meet and greet turned into a physical exam and preconception appointment with bloodwork. They took my blood, took an ultrasound of my uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes, and had me take a pregnancy test. Then they sent us off to see the OBGYN who was so kind and understanding.

She spent 45 minutes with us, answering all our questions and giving us tons of advice and suggestions. We were told exactly what to expect and she told us ways to improve our chances. MJ and I were smiling, laughing, and felt like we came home upon leaving our appointment. It was one of the best experiences I have ever had with a doctor or a doctor’s office.

It wasn’t hard to believe that we immediately agreed we found our OBGYN for our first pregnancy and possibly many more after them. MJ thought they were really happy and nice there, which is what influenced his decision plus he knew how much I wanted something like this. To find a practice like this that would work with my High Risk case is a dream come true.

We want a natural birth and a practice that believes in natural birth in a hospital setting is a perfect fit for us. MJ already knows I am big into holistic medicine, so he likes how this practice will go with our plan. With finding our OBGYN, we can  now focus on the next step in our journey, getting pregnant.
